Ten years ago, Jana Maegaard, decided to help women, who were battling breast cancer, get together to talk about all they were going through. She invited 6 ladies to her home to sit around her kitchen table to talk about their battles. For me, it was amazing, sitting there with these women who were going through so much. I remember thinking how very thankful I was to be part of this, and how strong and inspiring the ladies sitting on each side of me were.
From there we grew slowly with new ladies joining every few months. As we grew, we started sharing the monthly meeting from house to house. In 2007, we started meeting in my home and in 2008, we started a non-profit organization to help raise money for women, battling breast cancer, who were in need of help with their medical bills and other needs.
Circle of Hope will always be a very good foundation and a source of strength for getting through this difficult jorney. I cannot thank Jana, America, Julie, Terri, Susan and expecially Lisa, enough for forming the group and for continuing to fundraise for all of our sisters! These ladies have moved on but without them, there would not have been Circle of Hope.
Circle of Hope is a strong, resourceful circle to this day because we were all willing to be vulnerable and help each other at the same time. We have lost some of our friends, but their spirits live on in the friendships, courage and grace we pass on to current and future members.
With a grateful heart I thank each and every one of you for celebrating the 10 anniversary of this beautiful, wonderful, amazing and necessary support group.
Thank youDebbie
